Nevermind, fixed it by uninstalling Steam.

So the problem was that up until a specific resolution (1440x900 which is my native resolution) the game works, but if I go after that it gives me an error.
If that's the case: This isn't possible. The game can only run in screen resolutions which are supported by your hardware. Or any lower resolution if you run the game in a window. Going higher than your native resolution wouldn't make sense anyway because it wouldn't fit on the screen. Unless you do some downscaling but that's a ridicolous idea for a game like CS2D.
