Hey JJ, sorry for the problem, it turns out that WinRar does not support the encoding I use on my zip files with ultra compression, I use 7zip as it is free and flexible. Give it a try, you might even be able to compress the game more with it.

√A new Chicken Coop model added. Used for breeding chickens/roosters...catch them with your net and drop them near the coop...they will stay put to breed.(complete)

√There was still a problem with using other hammers at the forge. Re-scripted and fixed.(complete)
√Fixed some mushrooms not being able to be picked up. made a new Moss model to replace the original, as it covered over some of the mushrooms so you could not reach them.(complete)

hey Hyperfire thats great! 7Zip worked I got them all. I will test them out a bit and I am sure I will use one set or the other. If they change fast enough I may be able to get rid of even more hiccup because the light outside the skybox wont flash through when they change. So i can take out the duel color changes before n after the boxes switch...speeding up the transition.

EDIT:Yo Hyper...great news!
I decided to go with the optimized 512x512 but I scaled them down to 384x384. Most of them were around 100KB in size and they transitioned in game pretty fast. I then ran them through the Gimp "selective gaussian blur" to enhance them from the stretching...they turned out real nice and that reduced their size even more to 40-60K. This has made the hiccup practically unnoticeable while actually playing. Thanks for optimizing the skies folder bro...really helped the "tick" alot!

I've tried something with the water.jpg files that required me making them .PNG but when launching the game it tells me that it could not find the water.jpg files. Is there a script where I can change the format or is it integrated into the .exe file?

Also I was thinking in making my own "moddible" house for the game but I don't know if it would be possible to implement. With "moddible" i mean a house that is divided into several "pieces" that you can puzzle together as you see fit to make a custom house. But I think the terrain level and collision will collide with that idea.

Please let me know what you think of the idea, it will be for my own personal use if I could get it to work, or if you think it is a good/possible idea and want to use it and implement it, I will try to model it if you cant.

However, After a few days, I had built a mine shaft and shortly after none of my food will cook anymore, nor will any iron become soft iron in a forge, and my distiller (I con't remember how to spell it, my bad if its wrong.)
Also I lag a lot while next to my fires, or close to them.

Besides that, I love this mod, and i wish i could help more then complaining about stuff.

Along with the fire/forge stopping to work, i have some suggestions.
1. When a tool breaks/dulls, give the nails back too.
2. Increase the carrying capacity when you go into a mine, maybe as your mining level goes up, you can carry more into the mine.
3. Make the distiller make freshwater from salt water faster. It take forever, even before it stopped working all together.

I have a few more ideas, but I don't know if you are going to implement some things , so i'll wait to tell you them.

EDIT:
I forgot, After i had gone into my mine the second or their time, and the season had just changed from spring to summer, When i came out of them mine it was spring again. and after going around to collect my fruit, the terrain changed back to green.

Edit, again:
It was the last update before the newest one (Still 1.1.14, but not the one you released on 1.3.14.) Idk if that helps.

I could only set the single water texture and it can only be called "water.jpg".

As far as buildings, you CAN make sections that the player could put together...any building model added is treated all the same as the rest. Meaning the player would set them, rotate them into position, then click build. They would have to build them in "flat areas" OR you can make 2 different sections to choose from if the player wanted to build on a hillside. Another way would be using the "alter object" command in a script. Where you would have say 3 models, the player builds the first stage....then he could hit the building with his hammer x amount of times and the building would be replaced with a stage 2 model. Then repeat this for as many additions as you wanted the player to have.

Think about the current "forge/water rock" you hit it 50 times with a hammer and it changes to a "hollow rock". ("alter item" script command) Or the "build site" itself...you hit it with required hammer and use items and it changes to the building when done.

last...you can use script to force the player to build at only a certain location...such as you can only build a treehouse at x tree. Or a raft can only be built in water. Or the grill only over a fire pit. I am pretty sure you could use script to check terrain "x,y,z" and if it is a hill your "house section" would turn "red" and the player could not build there. To many things to list here but YES you can make sections of houses to build together.

Hi nice to meet you...if you did not download the new update you may have some bugs. The early version of 12-25-2013 was pretty bad. Download the new update.

I will have to test some things...i dont understand why you would have those bugs with the forge...or the mine. thank for the report...will look into it. Did you yourself edit any of the files at all? Or enable the editor and map a custom map? no works with custom maps.

I did not edit any files, nor did i use any other mods.
The game was working fine in till i went into the mine a few times. Also, i had a few events happen in the mine, if this could have anything to do with it.

Hey JJ, soon after I started playing your latest update I found that I get random lag spikes that last rather long(one lasted 20 seconds). Upon closer inspection I saw that when I get this spike the terrain(mostly grass) swith to the highest quality setting and then back to my setting(which is medium on everything, all check boxes checked except for light effects)

Don't know if this is a typo or something, but I cant make fire arrows with wooden arrow and cotton/wool like the diary says.

I have found a few typos in the diary regarding crafting also but cant remember them now lol. Will try to find all of them and post them up here.

Can you look into that lag spike some more? See if you can come up with any more details as to when, where, or how it might be happening? Was it only 1 time? or is it repeating every x amount of time...or at the same "time" hour ingame?...anything?

hey jack! I think there is a bug regarding grains planted. at 0 am, it just dies. The red glow would appear for a second and then instantly dies. I am playing in normal mode in the latest update.

Right-click your mouse to catch the chicken/rooster like you do a butterfly, or insect. Take it to the Chicken-Coop and simply "drop" it out of your rucksack. If your inside 100ft range of the coop they will stay idle, outside 100ft they will just run off again. I will add details to the diary/guide

I never messed with the ability to set the Map to a button after I put that in. You have to make the map first, goto the OPTIONS/CONTROLS and set it to a key. If you did not make a map though, it will not let you set it to a key.

btw...im not losing quality when I downsize the skybox images. It is the fact that I made them smaller in size AND the fact that that the engine has to "stretch" such a small image over the big sky. When an image is stretched it loses quality. Same as if you take a small image and scale it large it looks blurry -vs- scaling a big image smaller it loses no quality, and stays clear.

I actually do not like what i did to the sky images, and will revert back to your 512x512 optimized set, next upload.

Hey JJ, i've tried to come to the bottom of the lag spikes I'm getting. Its not tied to any specific time or anything, it happens completely random, but it is definitely tied to the events as it only happens when there is a event.

EDIT: When standing on a house's roof or the watchtower thingy, when an event happens I take falling damage, sometimes even break a leg xD.

I've tried putting my grass detail to max and then the opposite happens(Instead of going from medium to max and back to medium, it goes from max to medium back to max) don't know what causes it.

Also, I dont know if its meant to be like this but everytime one of my tools breaks(not blunting) the tool(ex. Hammer Head) disapears, I only sometimes get a handle back.

Also can you make the chicken's models different? Like maybe make the rooster brown and the hen white? Its hard to see their difference as they look the same ATM, only when I catch them they show different in the in sizes and icon.

thus this leads to the mine bug, which is just an oversight on my part, because I did not add the save function to the mine script, to save the current season and seasonday count, when you enter and exit the mine.

If i took out the changing skybox there would be no lag spikes or any problems with fall damage when your feet are off the ground when the boxes change. It is being picked up by the "detect fall" script at times.

im going to go ever it all again and see if I can make it better...or I may have to go back to the way it used to be...the same sky all the time...or only change the box when the player sleeps. Like random selection of sky which I could make relating to the seasons. But the sun moving across the sky is what would be gone, and is the whole purpose of this issue anyways. It may not be worth any more effort just to have this feature at such a big sacrifice in performance. (lag spikes)

yes i could make the rooster more different then the chicken...currently it is little bigger and has more red on it's head and under its beak, then the chicken.

Ill look at the hammers again..thought they were all fixed.

That way, players who are able to deal with lag but want that time changing feeling can have it, and others can not have that lag and can just have night and day.

I may be completly off what you guys are even talking about, if i am then ignore this all o.o.

Okay everyone I figured some things out and have posted a new update that runs alot smoother and takes care of the lag spiking.

I had a few things I changed in the scripting that makes it all better:

The hourly tick has 3-4 things executing at the same time, causing the lag spike. I have made them execute in order and with specific milliseconds in-between the executions, so they all do not execute at the exact same moment. Seems a lot smoother transition with just a quick "tick".

Also, There was a lag spike coming from the terrain being generated to grass, dirt, or snow...but it was being generated at a random time of the day EVERY day. So this was a big lag spike NOT on the hour tick. So, I have made the seasons/terrain changes generate only upon sleeping, or at midnight, along with the change day updates. It will now only generate the terrain ONCE EVERY 30 DAYS, when the season changes...instead of every day at some random hour.


The Mine has been closed:
Due to the Mine having so many issues and corrupting saved games...it has been closed. Your saved game will still work but you will not be able to enter your Mine if you have built one. Upon a new game, the Mine is no longer available to build. It is not very realistic anyways. If stranded on an island who would dig a tunnel underground with a shovel and find molten lava, then build a molten lava forge complete with a button to push?

After posting this next update I will be taking a break from posting any updates for the rest of this month. I will just be playing the game for a while while I tweak it. I will check in here for feedback during this time.

As always...I have read all of the above and consider everything posted...thank you all for your feedback and bug reports. I have also added many of you to the edited "credits" ingame for various reasons. Thank You

old bad bug

I have survived around 40 days on easy but I hit a bug wear the fire dos not cconsume wood and food will not cook on the fire has anyone else had this problem and is their a way to fix it with out starting a new game

I took the Mine out of the new update.

you can try to hit the grill and dismantle it, you will get the branches back to rebuild it. If that does not work then you should try to do the same with the fire pit. Rebuild them.

if that does not work then the Mine has corrupted your game data and i am very sorry for your lost game days.
