I guess ESL wants to hear something interesting rather than "we've changed!"
You should start creating your own little ESL kind of thing based on what they could do for CS2D. Kick off from there but don't expect to get back into ESL for the 3rd time so quickly.
The community itself has nothing to do with the reason of 2d's fall in ESL. We would just require some rights down there to create tournaments and we can work smoothly without any problems.

As you can see there, section for 2D is not even closed.

We are pleased to announce you some leagues for your favorite game in the near future What would you like to get? One-day-cups? Long-cups? Ladders? What gamemode? 1on1 or 5on5? Both?
Old cup we did: http://www.esl.eu/eu/news/181602/ These rules are fine?
Thanks for your feedback!

Tournament is set to be a single-elimination knockout phase. It seems like there are no rules yet.
edit : Rules and news will be posted on Sunday.

@ DC: If you can somehow shout-out about ESL in-game, we would be grateful.
Not to mention that most tournaments (besides some major tournaments) managed by the ESL are just horrible organized, with bad casters and so on.
So I really don't get it why people want to have a cup at the ESL. I just see no advantage over any self-organized tournament, but maybe someone can enlighten me. But one thing is for sure, the amount of players who will play CS2D because the are ESL-user will be close to zero. It's more likely that a cs2d player will register at the esl page.
